I have a kx 125, a 1984 model

It lacks all the modern security like the key to start, i was wondering if theres anything i can do where it cannot be started unless something technical can be done in a few seconds, for example like those cars with a secret switch underneath the dash to stop theives hotwiring it,

im asking this because me and my friends go riding far and like to leave our bikes in hiding to go where only you can on foot, my old bike needed key to start but like i sed you just kick this bike n its started no security

does anyone have ideas?

thanks

  1. Put a pad lock on the rear sprocket....Works just like a disc lock would... I wouldn't try to disable it from starting because if someone is going to try to steal it they would most likely push it away from the area to keep from making noise and if they do start it they won't go any where and you may hear it and possibly be able to catch them... Use one of those shrouded locks that are made for a trailer hitch so it can't be cut with bolt cutters.... Like this one...   http://www.etrailer.com/p-37DAT.htm

  2. Your wiring may be shot. I recomend bringing it in to the local kawasaki dealer and let them take a look.

  3. Unplug the wire going to the coil (from the wire harness), when you park it.

The coil is well concealed under the fuel tank.

If it's to hard to reach, extend the wire and put a quick connect plug in the wire - or mount a switch behind a radiator shroud.

Or just pull the spark plug cap up a bit - so it's still on the spark plug, but not making a connection.

  4. Why not use a chain?

We use chain to lock down our bikes (and scooter) even though all street bikes comes with a key and lock.

    Good Luck...
