  1. YES i Guess

  2. well to take off yes you have to but when you get it goin you will be fine not to use the clutch i had a crf 80 that i used as a pit bike just to crew around on and i beat the h**l out of that thing i rarly used the clutch and it still ran perfect when i got rid of it.

  3. You can, but I wouldn't recommend it on that bike. Race bikes like a CRF250R have such good synchronization that shifting without a clutch is no issue, but on trail bikes like the 230 it isn't a great idea. Just one of the reasons a CRF250 costs twice what a CRF230 does.

  4. Is it really that hard to slap the clutch?

  5. no and yes.

the transmission is designed to have the clutch used at all shifts. the gears take an abrupt hit from each other when they engage under load. "no clutch". it  is also hard on the shifting fork that changes the gear.

if your an experienced rider it is passable to commonly not use the clutch but the rider knows when it isn't going to stress parts inside. be gentle, don't plan to do it constantly.

  6. everything said above is correct, but if you have to, and i mean like broken off clutch lever or dead clutch or something of that sort, just back of on the revs if you're shifting up -- keep the bike in power and moving but stop applying power then shift, or apply fairly consistent power to shift down
