  1. 2 strokes are a little less expensive to maintain, but both require routine maitenence....there is no such thing as a maintenance free machine......

  2. 2 stroke require more maintanance but the parts are cheaper than a 4 stroke but 4 stroke have less (so to speak) maintance

  3. Ill say 4 storks but 2 stroks are good to handle belt for speed and easy to care of 4 stroke are for heavy duty

  4. 2 Strokes require more maintenance but the 4 stroke costs more to maintain.

  5. 4 strokes cost more and are more expensive to fix.......more moving parts ,

I DONT CARE WHAT THESE JOKERS SAY . A 2STROKE BIKE DOES NOT REQUIRE HALF AS MUCH MAINTENANCE AS A 4 STROKE. dont let any one of these fools tell you different. Yes a 4stroke is easier to ride.. as ffar as speed maybe down a long straight (like a quarter mile ) a 4stroke will smoke a 2stroke.......  on a 2stroke as long as someone has the balls and of course the tallent. he can beet anyone on a 4 stroke,,, look what R.C. did..

I can rebuild my top end in the same amount of time it takes these fools to change their oil on their loud *** 4strokes..if you really race you gonna have to do much more maintenance on any bike, but  like I said 4stroke are a good bike and easier to ride but I can ride wheelies up any sandy and rutted out hill.. rip through any burm, anyways it comes down to what you want. a dirtbike is a dirtbike ,,,, but if you want to just haul butt down the street then a 4stroke would be your bike to buy, and then in about a month you need to find someone to fix your motor, then fix it again, and again. i will never get rid of my rocket ship yz 250, and if I could afford to buy a new bike it just might be a new 2008 YZ 250. I see no reason to sell out..

these people must be the new san diego charger fans.

  6. Depending on what you want to do more, work on the bike or pay more for work, for less maintenance cost go with the two stroke, but if you want to pay more for maintenance go with the four stroke, is has more parts.

  7. The only real difference in routine maintenance is that 4 strokes need valve clearance checked occasionally. That is it. There is a lot of talk on this subject and mostly from people that don't know what the h**l they are talking about. Yes a 4 stroke is a little more expensive when it is time for a major rebuild, but going fast costs money...how fast do you want to go? 4 strokes are far superior bikes for MX/SX regardless of what many uninformed people say. Yes there is a price for that superiority. 2 stroke are still great for serious woods riders and MX riders that are just riding for fun and don't need to compete at a high level. So to answer your question, yes if you keep the bike long enough to need a full top end rebuild it will cost about twice as much as a 2 stroke rebuild, but the normal routine maintenance will not cost you more. I personally get a new race bike every 1 or 2 years so I never get to the point of doing a full rebuild.

  8. 2 stroke
