I am curious how to get a dirtbike sponsor for my 8 yr old son, this is his 3rd year racing and he drives a 2006 KTM pro senior and has quite a few trophys under his belt and is currently running 3rd in points for the cmx series after 10 races this year any suggestions would be great

  1. Go to your local businesses, take with you information to "sell" your sons riding and how much attention he would draw to the business.

  2. Any sponsors that you get off sponsor house will be for discounts on there products...Like 20% off goggles or something...But to even get that you have to first buy something from them...To get a money sponsor you have to go to companys or business and try and sell yourself....Most business's like auto supplys or tires,Sponsor large groups..like boy scouts.........It is hard to get money for one kid...We have been trying for years...When you sign up on sponsorhouse you will have companys contact you to sponsor you..As soon as you click to accept you will have to pay your year fee to sponsorhouse..Its like 50 or 60 bucks...

  3. if i were you  wouldnt bother with sponsers yet unless you finacially need them. im sponsered and it is more hassel than its worth half the time, you have to always be presentable ,you are under pressure to get results and you have to do certain races and events that you might not always want to do . to be honest it kind of takes the fun out of it a bit . i think you should just keep it as a family thing unless your son has serious potential

  4. yeah its actually easier then u probably think it is...just go to www.mxsponsor.com and u just make a profile and a resume and then u just send it to companies and hope that they will want to sponsor your 8yr old. I havent done it myself but my friend is a crazy good mxer and he got one pretty easily i think. O and bye the way if i remember right i think he said its more difficult to get sponsored by some companies then it is to get sponsored by others like for instants its easier to get a sponsor from a brand like scott then it is to get sponsered by a brand like alpynstar. Good luck i hope this helps

  5. Approach local bike shops with a resume of what things your son has won.  Also list what events he is going to be doing that would give advertising to the shop sponsoring him.  If they choose to sponsor him with a percentage off gear and usables you can offer to run the shops sticker kits on the bike and put something on your trailer.  Suggest that you would be happy to have a pit tent with their logo on it for advertising.  You have to show the shop that it is worth their while to take your son on.

If you do get a sponsor make sure you email through race reports after every event so the shop feels that they are in touch with their riders.

  6. Set up a sponsorhouse account for him. Take your time and setting up his profile. This will get you some discounts on stuff,  my son also rides a KTM 50 Senior, and there is not a lot of product out there for them. But you can search out sponsors that your interested in. You can vist my profile if you want at sponsorhouse.com   athlete search  Robbie DuBato this could help you with ideas.

  7. sponsorhouse.com is great, i've gotten a lot of sponsors from there.

You can also check your local shops, but a lot of the time the discounts they can offer are not nearly as deep as those available if you go directly to the manufacturer

Some of the best sponsorships i've gotten have been by writing a cover letter and race resume and sending them directly to the company who I'm looking to be sponsored by. MSR is great about that (they were my first and are still my best sponsor), they sponsor amateur racers like crazy, so does Moose.
