Disability is not stopping the upcoming Oscar of golf!
The Nedbank SA Disabled Open this week is the venue for the leading disabled golfers to defy their physical limitations and play the precision game.
Daniel Slabbert is one of the best disabled golfers in the world.
Last year Slabbert won the Nedbank SA Disabled Open in inspiring fashion and this year’s Open marks him defending his title.
His form has been smashing and if he manages to pull a strong defence this year, his rating would skyrocket on the table.
Slabbert is inspired by Oscar Pistorius, a South African sprint runner known as the fastest man with no legs.
Oscar's disability has fallen short for his will power and hard work as in the 2005 Paralympic World Cup, he won a gold medal in 100 meters and 200 meters sprints and became a global phenomenon.
Oscar holds the disability sports' world record for the fastest 200 meter run which he completed in 21.58 seconds.
He has inspired the disabled sportsmen all over the globe with his success and unparallel sportsman spirit.
Slabbert is one of those people who take inspiration from people like Oscar in pursuit of becoming like him one day.
Slabbert’s hopes are his strength and his words show his commitment towards golf:
“I’m hoping to make it onto the Sunshine Tour as a regular professional. I think it would be big for disabled golf if I could achieve that”.
Slabbert was also voted as the Disabled Golfer of the Year in 2011 after he bagged the Nedbank SA Disabled Open.
His words are inspiring and give hope to disabled people all over the globe to achieve greatness.
“As disabled people we want to compete, to win and be champions just as much as the Usain Bolts of this world”, said the young golfer.
Slabbert is on the right path of becoming a successful disabled golfer. He possesses the right ingredients to become an inspiration like Oscar Pistorius and looks bold, even with a disabled left leg.
Inspiration comes from self belief and Daniel Slabbert believes that he would become an inspiration for the disabled all over the world.
