A member of my family has R. arthritis. She is currently getting temporary disability from her job. If she applies for her permanent disability from social security, will she lose her temporary disability while she waits for the permanent disability to go thru?

  1. No, but the current insurer will be able to get a refund of what they've paid out, from the SSDI payments.

Don't feel bad - it's much, much, much harder to get SSDI, which is PERMANENT, and TOTAL disability, than it is to collect under a private policy.

If she's capable of doing ANYTHING, she's not going to qualify.

  2. No-but if her SSDI eventually covers a period of time that was paid for by state disability, that money will have to be re-paid.
