Dont know that there is a disadvantage to an Oyster card. Its cheaper, more flexible, and if you use a pay as you go card, you will never spend more than the cost of a one day travel card in any one day. If you make loads of journeys in a day, it will just charge you that price overall. Its just so much easier and less hasle. No disadvantage.

I agree - no disadvantages to an Oyster card, except that it could get stolen.

If you register you card and it gets stolen you can get it stopped at once by telephoning Oyster.

Oh yes - and if your card is registered, it tracks your movements around London - your electronic footprint, just as your credit and debit cards leave an electronic trail when you use them.

But if those things don't bother you (they don't bother me), then Oyster is great. Quick to use, no queuing, flexible and cheap. You can top up online, or yu can use auto-top-up and then you never run out of credit on your card.
