but the ocasional bottle  of wine or a drink with friends is very nice and fun

moderation is the key

Acute problems could consist of blood vessel dilation.  This brings an increased amount of blood to the skin causing one to feel warm, but in fact it lowers the core body temperature.  This is because the blood brings heat from inside the body to the skin and this heat is transferred from the skin to the environment.
