  1. distractions

  2. Humm... expense. Many colleges and universities require their students to purchase labtops and pricey software programs. Tuition would still go up every year without doing this... why add to the problem?

Also there is the distraction as the first poster said. Cellphones, ipods, video games, etc.

I knew a guy who was  addicted to video games... his grades suffered, and he almost had to drop out. It sounds stupid but this really does happen to some people.

  3. Cell phones:

I think students' lives are too "fast paced", by being so accessible--they lose the quiet moments (not to mention sleep) when they can be undisturbed. I also think personal communications suffer. Text messaging shouldn't replace the intimacy of a phone call...social etiquette has changed and become rushed. Cell phones are also a real danger during driving. The "off" button just isn't used enough on these things...LOL.

Video games: As another person said, there is almost an addiction involved, but certainly creativity is lost because the video games seem to eat up time leaving less time for other activities.

Computers: The internet has decreased many students abilities to look up data in books, dictionaries, encyclopedias, periodicals, use libraries reference aids. While it is a great tool-it should enhance, not replace the great resources available.
