are there any disadvantages for wearing glasses? i don't know if these are just stupid rumors or are actually true, but i've heard that wearing glasses for a long time make your eyeballs pop out, make a bump on the bridge of your nose, and change the shape of your head a bit. can anyone tell me if any of these are true or if there are other disadvantages of wearing glasses?

  1. I wear contact a contact lens most of the time and usually only wear glasses at home when needed.  Glasses do not make your eyes pop-out.  They can make your eyes appear smaller if you are nearsighted and use a minus lens.  They can make your eyes appear larger if you are farsighted or presbyopic and use a plus lens.  If you have a pair of glasses that is not fitted well or damaged, they can leave a mark on your nose, but it will go away.

Here are the disadvantages that I can think, but many to me are in comparison to contacts.

    1) They are difficult to play sports in without damaging them.

    2) I like to lay on my side to watch TV sometimes and I have to position myself just right so I do not smash them into my face.

    3) They seem to get really dirty fast and I have to clean them constantly.

    4) I prefer having a more natural appearance and prefer not wearing them.

    5) I prefer contacts over them because you have better peripheral vision and can use non-prescription sunglasses.

Glasses also have an advantage that outweighs all the disadvantages and that is they help you to see better.

  2. Isn't seeing an advantage that is better than any disadvantage?

  3. LIES!!!!!!

    Fake much!?!?!

    They're all "stupid rumors"!!!!!!!!!!

    Some disadvantages would be

    1) lenses rubbing against ur eyelashes

    2) swimming and other sports

    3) strenuous dancing

    4) and having your piccy taken with the "no glare" not on

  4. Ridiculous! I've been wearing glasses since I was 13. Those are all rumors. The only thing that I have a problem with is when I want to go on water rides, or any ride for that matter. I have to take them off and make sure that they are safe. That is the only problem that I have ever had.

  5. I've been wearing glasses 34 years and my head is not misshaped and my eyeballs are not popping out.  The little indentation on the bridge of my nose stems from the old days when frames were much bigger and heavier and lenses thicker. Today's frames and lenses are stylish and lightweight. Glasses do have a tendency to be a bother sometimes, but honestly once you get used to having them on your face you hardly know they are there.

  6. I think that all those things you've been told are complete myths.

The only disadvantages (in my mind) to wearing glasses is:

-They are not easy to exercise or play sports in

-It is gross to sweat with them on

    -They get dirty easy

-It is hard to lay down and watch tv/movie because you are scared you might crush them

    ....those kinds of things.
