Disappointed Eric Boullier denies Kimi Raikkonen’s accusations
The team boss of Renault Eric Boullier has completely denied using Kimi Raikkonen’s name to get publicity. Raikkonen accused the team for using him as a tool to attract more headlines and to create a
stir among the fans.
Raikkonen and Renault had been together in the news for past couple of months. It has been reported time and again through various mediums that the Finn is to sign with Renault for the upcoming season of Formula One. The news
got more air as it was reported earlier that the racer’s manager, Steve Robertson talked to the team asking them about their plans for the next season. The team reported that they only told him that the finances for the next team would confirm if they wanted
a new driver or would want to continue with same. Also, the team was yet to evaluate the current drivers’ performance.
The news made a lot of stir in motorsports world as well as inside the Renault team.
Robertson has recently agreed that he did ask the team for their upcoming year’s plans however there was no clue given that the racer would want to move to the team.
This discussion led to further hot air in the team as Vitaly Petrov criticised for why the team would want to get rid of him. On the other hand, Robert Kubica stayed calm that his place in the team is pretty safe.
Following these rumours media as well as the race fans for a long time played the game of 'will he, won't he', as they waited to hear more from the racer’s side.
Finally after a long wait Raikkonen straightened all knots saying that all that all these stories are baseless rumours. The driver talked to the reporters yesterday saying that he, “never seriously considered driving for Renault."
Moreover he added that he was, "disappointed with the way they have used my name for their own marketing."
Raikkonen's comments have been taken by the team very offensively as they told that they are disappointed from the driver, not because he would not be joining them, but because he has wrongly accused them of using his name for
publicity.
"We have not piggy-backed on Kimi's image at all, which is what he has been claiming in the press," the team boss of Renault said.
He explained saying that they have never approached his manager or the racer since the last discussion. He said that the delay in answering them back was only because the team has not yet taken the final decision and some evaluations
are yet to be made before jumping to a conclusion.
However, he thought that media of course had a big interest in the news and that could have upset the driver. But still he believed that there was no point in Raikkonen getting aggressive and accusing Renault.
