Disappointed Michael Schumacher receives insult after the injury
Michael Schumacher has been left behind as the analysts make the list of the ‘Autosport top 50 racing drivers of 2010’.
Since he won his first championship in the year 1994, he has been seen at the top slots of the annual list, only missing during the three years of his retirement. However, this year the panel decided
unanimously to keep him off the list. While talking about this, the editor of the British print magazine Autosport, Andrew van de Burgt said, "If there had been just one race where you thought Schumacher was exceptional that may well have been enough to get
him into the top 50. But I can't think of that one performance. Coupled with that, his comeback was easily the most hyped and eagerly anticipated I can remember. The expectations were so great and the results so disappointing."
After having viewed the list, many of the sport analysts believe that it is rightly tailored, and although, it is sad and awkward not seeing the good ‘ol’ Schumi’ there but he "wasn't very good" at
any part of the season.
The list every year includes drivers from all major motor racing series from all across the globe that have shown spectacular racing skills throughout the season. Since long this list is considered
a ‘Bible’ for the race followers for being really authentic and the listing done in a very fair and logical manner.
Schumacher’s supporters argue that the seven-times world champion did not get the right car that could suit his style, and also he was uncomfortable with the new Bridgestone tyres. However, the race
guru, Burgt believes, “The tyres are the same for everyone and a driver who has won 91 Grands Prix and seven World Championships has got to adapt. Rosberg more than had the measure of Schumacher. And what we have seen in the past suggests Rosberg is a very
good driver but maybe not a great one. So to be so comprehensively beaten by him didn't really show Schumacher in a great light."
Nico Rosberg, Schumacher's Mercedes GP teammate and a fellow country man scored almost double than the racing icon. He is not only 16 years younger than Schumacher but also has never won a race. However,
all through the season, he has stood ahead of his team-mate and has received huge appreciation from all the race analysts and media. This year he has been ranked 12th in the 2010 Autosport drivers’ ranking list.
