Disappointing performance damages Martin Kaymer’s hopes of grabbing the world number one rank
The twenty-five years old, German golf veteran, Martin Kaymer endured another disappointing and crucial round at Andalucia Masters golf tournament, which is being held in Spain. The disappointing second round performance of Kaymer
has strongly damaged his struggle and hope of being the world number one player.
It is to be notified that the German ace can usurp the World top rank from the current world number one, Tiger Woods if he finishes the ongoing Andalucia Masters by winning it or by finishing second sharing it with not more than
one player.
However, it seems like the days are not lucky for the German, as he was not able to control the ball according to his plans. During the day’s play Kaymer hardly managed to record his day at seventy-four over par. Currently the
German is eleven shots behind the leader and Ryder Cup star Graeme McDowell.
The thirty-one years old Irish veteran golfer, Graeme McDowell is playing splendidly in the tournament and is leading the points table of Andalucia Masters golf cup. McDowell finished his day seven under with just one hit under
the slash.
It is to be noticed that currently two players are fighting hard to clutch the world top rank of golf, namely Martin Kaymer and the thirty-seven years old British top golf player Lee Westwood. In addition, if Martin Kaymer does
not snatch the top spot of golf then the world number one title will automatically be awarded to the Briton, Lee Westwood. Overall, the dominance of the world’s golfing legend Tiger Woods is about to end this week.
During the day’s play, the German seemed completely out of touch as he missed the chances of putting at the fourteenth, sixteenth and eighteenth hole. As compared to Kaymer, his archrival, northern Irishman, Graeme McDowell played
a better game. The thirty-one years old Irish missed the chances at the 5th and 9th hole, but successfully carded six bogeys to finish at seven under par and finished the day with a remarkable effort of sixty-seven.
After the day’s performance, the Ryder Cup star McDowell expressed his views and said that he is still not very happy with his performance, as he missed two important chances of putting the ball. Nonetheless, he is still happy
that he has managed to finish the day by putting the best number over the points chart.
While talking about his performance, McDowell told the media that he tried his level best to position the ball perfectly during the day’s play. He added that he will try to maintain the way he is performing and hopefully he will
get the best results.
When Graeme was asked about Martin Kaymer, the thirty-one years old said that Martin has been very unlucky with his performance, but he is a world-class player. McDowell said that at the Valderrama golf course it is very important
for a player to keep his head. He added that he will try to focus over his own performance and that is what he is aiming at to get the best results from it.
Currently McDowell is topping the standings chart of the Andalucia Masters golf event. On the points chart McDowell is followed by his compatriot, thirty years old Gareth Maybin with sixty-eight points.
Now the real test for the German veteran Martin Kaymer has just started. If he wants to clinch the number one title, he has to perform better in the further stages of the tournament or else Lee Westwood will be awarded the top
rank.
