Disc Brake HELP!!!!??!!?

Question

Does anyone know the year when disc brakes were first used on bikes??? (bicycles) I need to know this for a project that's due soon so first answer gets ten points!!

In 1974/1975 there was a bike called Tankagnolo, which had a Shimano disc brake on the rear wheel. The 'Mountain Bike Hall of Fame' recognises this as the first mountain bike with disc brakes.

I started seeing them around 2002 but I'm sure they were used before that.
