It depends on many things: the format of the picture (JPG, BMP, PNG etc...), its size, its resolution and the compression used in certain formats.

If your pictures are in BMP format, the answer is YES, they will take loads of space. Bitmaps have no compression whatsoever; to give you an idea of how the data is stored, each pixel is represented by six hexadecimal numbers. Each and every pixel, regardless of whether the pixel near it is the same color.

JPG takes less space than BMP and is used far more often in digital cameras. However, it is not of a great quality.

Depending on what your pictures are stored as, they may or may not take space. The best way to check how much they are taking is (on windows) to hover on the directory in which they're in (or to right click -> Properties on the said folder). You'll see how much space they take.

i put mine onto a disc then erase the file, saving you lots of space.

resolution maters a lot!!but then there are ways to compress photos and stil you get the same clarity. simple example is you can use windows picture editor which helps you reduce picture size by many folds!! so cheer up. cheers!!

Unless you have a lot of very large high-resolution images, then no. Generally music and video files take up the most space on your hard drive. Images and text files usually take up very little space.

If you have all your photos in a folder say My Pictures then you can right click on that folder and click on properties. It will let you know how much space photos are taking in our computer.
