Discarded Kamran decides to quiz PCB over exclusion
Pakistan wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal has decided to ask the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 tour.
The ignored wicketkeeper was quite upset after his name was not announced in the squad for the upcoming series, even though he had been performing exceptionally well on the domestic circuit.
The general rumour prevailing in Pakistan is that Kamran was neglected for selection on the behest of the International Cricket Council (ICC). It is widely believed that the ICC has doubts over Akmal’s role in match-fixing.
Chief selector http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khan-c71319 has confirmed that the PCB did not get the neccessary clarification from the ICC’s for picking Akmal in the team, which is why he has been dropped.
Akmal however clarified that he had gotten a clearance letter from the ICC, and now using match-fixing as an excuse to drop him from the team just doesn’t make any sense.
According to details, the five players named by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mazhar-c75448 Majeed in his video last week will most likely miss the 2011 World Cup, and unfortunately for Akmal his name is among those players.
Akmal told reporters, “I plan to meet with Zakir Khan because playing in the World Cup is every player's dream, and I want to play in the mega-event and perform. It would be heartbreaking for me if I don't get an opportunity to play in the World Cup."
Apart from the five players, three others (Salman Butt, Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif) are waiting for the hearing of their trial, which will determine their future regarding their involvement in spot-fixing.
Akmal has vowed to take legal action against Mazhar Majeed for alleging his involvement in match-fixing, he said, “Either he has to produce evidence to substantiate his allegations, or make a public apology.”
The wicketkeeper was originally dropped from the UAE series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 because of an appendicitis operation, but later was also discarded for the New Zealand tour which is set to begin from the 26
December. This tour holds the key to the selection of the players for the 2011 Cricket World Cup. Players who can manage decent performances in this tour will automatically be considered for the World Cup.
Kamran's absence from the New Zealand tour has put his prospects of making the World Cup squad in jeopardy.
