Question:

Discharge after tooth extraction? Clot normal?

I had my #3 pulled on Saturday with very little pain or bleeding. I've followed the after care instructions, and had no problems. I ate some soup earlier and ever since, I've noticed a light brown, watery liquid coming from my socket. Is this normal?

I've been extremely paranoid about developing a dry socket because I had so much trouble with this tooth before it was pulled. The extraction site is a whitish-gray in the middle, but the sides are just pink holes, not really covered with anything. Is this how it should look?

I have no pain at this point, just sore gums, so I seriously doubt anything is wrong. Like I said, I'm just very worried about it. Any advice/reassurance would be very appreciated!

  1. If there is no pain by now then there should not be a dry socket
