Hello!

I should have got my period on August 25th(Monday) and it is now Friday and still no period. I am getting this stringy discharge in my underwear(which is normal right before my period)..but I am starting to get concerned because I still have not recieved it.

My boyfriend and I use the "pull-out method"..so pregnancy is possable.

How long should I wait to test?

Any input would be helpul! Thanks!

  1. Ok- wear acondom! Pull out method doesn't work! lol, you probably know that anyway. Early pregnancy tests can work like about 4 days even before your missed period, but it would be best to wait until you have missed it at least by a day. Take the test first thing in the morning when you wake up, because that first pee of the day would have the highest level of the pregnancy hormone in it if you were pregnant. If you were still quite young, even as old as 20, you just may have missed a period and are not pregnant. I had normal periods my whole life, well, when I first had them they were irregular, but as a teenager they were regular. Well, when I hit about 20, they became very irregular for like a year, I would go 3 months without one, and they would last forever! They got normal again though. If you aren't pregnant and still continue to not have a period, you should go to the doctor to have this checked out. Good luck and wrap it up in the future, lol!

  2. You can test now for an accurate result. Assuming your period is regular you might just be a couple of days late. Experts say that a period is anywhere from 25-35 days in between cycles.

Take a home pregnancy test (one that detects the most amount of HCG). Take one tonight to ease your mind, and then again tomorrow morning with your first urine. If you still haven't gotten you period in a week, take another test AND make an appointment with your doctor.

  3. You can test anytime now, but do so first thing in the morning. It has higher levels of the hormones for the test to detect.
