  1. Discordianism is a modern religion centered on the idea that chaos is as important as order. There is some division as to whether it should be regarded as a parody religion, and if so to what degree.

It has been called "Zen for roundeyes", based on similarities with absurdest interpretations of the Rinzai school. Discordianism recognizes chaos, discord, and dissent as valid and desirable qualities, in contrast with most religions, which idealize harmony and order. Eris, the Greek mythological goddess of discord, has also become the matron deity of the religion Discordianism.

Paganism (from Latin paganus, meaning "country dweller, rustic") is a word used to refer to various religions and religious beliefs from across the world. It is a term which, from a Western perspective, has modern connotations of spiritualist, animistic or shamanic practices or beliefs of any folk religion, and of historical and contemporary polytheistic religions in particular.

The term "pagan" is a Christian adaptation of the "gentile" of Judaism, and as such has an inherent Abrahamic bias, and pejorative connotations among Westerners,[2] comparable to heathen, and infidel, mushrik and kafir (كافر) in Islam. For this reason, ethnologists avoid the term "paganism," with its uncertain and varied meanings, in referring to traditional or historic faiths, preferring more precise categories such as polytheism, shamanism, pantheism, or animism; however others criticise the use of these terms, claiming that these are only aspects that different faiths may share and do not denote the religions themselves.

Discordianism is mainly a mockering "religion", a parody of the world's religions.

Paganism is a set of beliefs and practices based on spiritual paths to the inner god found in every living creature and in every inanimate object.

  2. No.

Discordianism begins with a "D" and has six syllables.  Eclectic Paganism is two words and has only seven syllables.  This is very important since the words "vile, disgusting hangnail" also have six syllables and one of the words starts with a "d".  Coincidence?  I think not!

You've already got one very good answer to your question, so I'm having a little Discordian fun with it.  There's nothing wrong with Discordians, but never let your sister date one.  She could turn into a haggledy-rod and consequently be forever banished from fruit markets and old-time yachting events.  I myself am a Discordian, and ruler of the high and fnord Yarldom of Sphincterpus in the old and rancid lands of the Venerable Gnarl.  No doubt you have heard of them.  I hope to hear of them someday myself.

Discordians just have a little fun with things, especially people who take themselves or their beliefs too seriously.  Eris reminds us that the gods have a great sense of humor; else how could they have created man.
