Discoteca tipped to win Tipperary Water Hurdle
Discoteca is tipped to win the Tipperary Water Hurdle at Ballinrobe in Ireland on Monday, May 28, 2012. A cash prize of €7,245 will be awarded to the race winner.
The going will be good in the 2 mile event, which is scheduled to start at 20:00 GMT. A total of six runners have been attracted towards the race and their names are as follows: Darroun, Discoteca, Face Value, White Feathers, The Quiet Hawk and Teajaybe.
Looking at the recent form of Discoteca, it appears that he will walk away with a comfortable victory today. He has got a good record in races over hurdles and it will be difficult for others to prevent him from taking the top spot.
The conditions at Ballinrobe are likely to suit the four-year-old gelding and he has got a very good stamina as well, which will help him attract a lot of bets from the punters today. He has taken part in four hurdles until now, winning one of them whereas
finished runner up on the same number of times.
This goes onto show that the Gordon Elliott’s trainee likes running in this format. His recent form has been impressive, as he brought up his maiden victory over hurdles in his most recent outing. He was expected to prevail back then, as the bookies had
awarded him with excellent odds.
No one managed to challenge the stamina of Discoteca back then and he might enjoy a similar run at Ballinrobe today. He will be partnered by D. N. Russell, who has won just four races over hurdles. His strike rate is on the lower side, thus he might not
attract a lot of bets in his favour.
The bookies seem to have more faith in the skills of Darroun, who has not been in good form over the past few events. He finished ninth in his previous outing, which might discourage the bettors from risking money on him.
The four-year-old gelding has participated in five races over hurdles, winning one of them and finishing runner up on the same number of times. The main reason for him getting the best odds is his rider, Ruby Walsh, who is one of the best in the business
and has won 115 times in this format.
