Discount clothing stores Madhouse and sportsworld (formally sport and ski) close down every now and then why?

I've noticed that discount clothing stores madhouse and sports world close down now and then only to open up a couple of days later in virtually the same format! Why is this, is there a retail law that makes them do this?
