Question:

Discouraged in the Horoscope section?

Does anyone feel a little bit discouraged when asking somewhat serious astrolgy questions- looking for serious insight or helpful suggestions....and no one (or very few!) people jump at the chance to answer or throw a little input in there?

...any experiences you would like to share?

  1. I don't feel that discouraged. People might just not know the answer. I don't take it personally.

But, a few people do step up and answer them. And I'm always more than glad to read those people's answers.

    =D

  2. What i know is that if you ask like this:

    - What's the agression pattern of virgos?

you obtain 2 answers and one is a trol lol

    -Virgos are u agressive?

you obtain 2 answer of mad virgos and two that tell their experiences

    - Are you agressive? What's your sign?

you obtain from 10 to 30 answers depending of the mood of the people and 80% of the answeres give not useful information to determine what u wanted to know in the first question.

I'm sure that this happens to everybody so why to feel discouraged? and the cool thing is that we have contacs so you can choose what type of people you want to have as answerers

  3. Yeah..I ask a question, but no one really knows the answer,so people just write 'free 2 points!' or 'i don't know' and stupid things, but when someone asks about one's favorite color and sign a bunch of people answer.

  4. yes

    most are kids anyway.

and refer to my previous answer to you.

most seem to have no life experience at all anyway. but want to seem to know it all.............!!!!

Can't be bothered with kids really. Some are smart granted...but this question really got me thinking . Am dealing with what ?? 13 year olds ?? or people so stuck up that they won't accept another opinion ??

Basically..if one is so narrow minded about life and people in general.........they will be narrow minded about astrology as well anyway. They lack the knowledge, experience, life experiences.........etc.

  5. Yes, it is disappointing. You're not alone in feeling this way. I've deleted some of my questions because no one even answered them at all. I usually try to analyze why it happened.

I think the main reason is that it is so easy for people to answer the less serious questions. Also, I think as a group that we spend/waste a lot of our time and energy answering the so-called skeptics who do not feel the need to be polite or practice what they preach. After I see who gets best answer, I am usually disappointed in myself for answering that question when I could have focused on something else.

  6. Eh... yes. That's why I don't do it anymore.

Either it's only the people you know (and no offense to all those I know, but you know I always love a fresh piece of insight for my questions, and as many different points of view as humanly possible) or you get the mandatory "I never heard about that but I'm a [insert sign here]" or "Astrology is bs, and your question makes no sense".

What I am more discouraged by, is asking questions here to the resident sceptics *about* astrology. They never answer. Whenever the question is non-astrological enough and more philosophical they jump on it like bees on... well, you get the point. But when you ask them a clear, concrete question... you're left with a question only answered by people who are "not sure whether they should believe astrology, but will give it a chance". Where are those darn resident sceptics when it's their time to shine, huh?

(I gave up asking concrete questions directed to sceptics a long time ago, by the way...)

Scorpio sun, Sagittarius rising, Gemini moon

  7. Yes... I feel greatly discouraged by it.

I try to answer people's serious questions because I love to help out if I can.. but I'm not an expert so I don't really feel comfortable offering astrological advice to people if I don't have anything to offer.

I usually end up wanting to see answers to another person's serious question myself... and still nothing. : (

Then, when people start acting stupid I get angry, as you've seen. I don't even know why I bother half the time... but I guess I've still learnt quite a lot from this lil section.

  8. Yes!  I am probably one of the disappointing people you are referring to (although I have seen way more surface answers then mine)!

I am still a newbie and although my knowledge is deepening I have a far way to go.  There are just things that I do not know.  I will star them and either look them up (if they can be found on the internet) or I just wait for someone more knowledgeable to respond.

Sorry not to be able to offer an abundance of insight!  :-)

I hope to be able to one day soon because when I am interested in something I go deep!!

    Me:

    Sun: Sadge

    Moon: Leo

    Ascendant: Gemini

  9. I feel very disappointed when I ask a serious question and either get "too bad" kind of answers or very "surface" answers.  Kind of like if it isn't someone elses problem then they aren't interested. Or, if it's too complex it just isn't worth the effort. I have had many questions ignored because of complexity and I have been given a lot of half assed answers where you have to choose the lesser of the several evils.

    Cancer, Scorpio moon, Aquarius rising

  10. I hate it when I ask a question (in any section, really) and I get answers like "i dont no lol" or "im not shore thx 4 teh free points lol!!1!

But even worse than that is when I ask an astrology question and people are like, "Astrology is BS".  I'm thinking, 'then why are you in this section in the first place?'

    Capricorn Sun, Gemini Moon.

  11. I don't feel discouraged.  I still wanna keep asking questions, it does feel bad though when people don't want to take the time to answer serious astrology questions or help out.  Yes I can look up cut and paste computer generated answers too on the internet I want to know real people's answers who have experince or who have actually read books outside of my internet reading.

*EDIT---ooooh  I didn't know it took so long to answer some questions.  Sorry if that was to me, Yes and I always forget to extend the questions.  Thank you No Belief Required :)

Good question...thanks for posting it :)

  12. Yeah, I'd have to say that I did find it discouraging when I came to this forum that my more difficult to answer astrology questions were never answered. Still to this day sometimes I get more stars than I do answers when I ask a more technical question. Sometimes I'm okay with that, though....it depends on the circumstances. As far as astrology questions in this forum go, if it's a question that I'm asking because I really don't know the answer and I need help, then really all I need is a couple of really good answers, not 20 half assed ones, lol. That's not the only reason that I ask astrology based questions here though. Sometimes I ask them in order to help other people understand astrology. And I know I'm not the only one here that does this, either. This is when I find the lack of response really frustrating, because while there are a few of you guys here who are real troopers and will try to answer questions even though you're not really sure whether or not you're "right", there are many more who just don't bother. And of course how is anyone going to learn anything if they're not even trying? Take for example my last question which you *did* answer...that was not asked for my benefit. The question got 13 stars, but only 6 answers (so far, it's still open), and of those 6 answers, 4 of them were from people who I know darned well already understand transits and what they do, and so therefore I do believe that they were answering more out of courtesy than anything else:) There were only two of you who answered who might have gotten what was intended out of that question. And it doesn't matter if you've got some brilliantly insightful answer or even the right one....or even if your answer goes somewhere along the lines of "gee, I'm not really sure but I'll try....". What matters is that you're giving it a really good solid try and working on expanding your astrological knowledge. Maybe that one I asked yesterday was a bit too involved? I'll try it again and make it a little more accessible and see where that goes today.

Now, as far as the more advanced and technical questions that you guys ask, you've got to understand that sometimes those can take a really long time to answer correctly and well (I've spent more than an hour answering one question on more than one occasion myself, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who has), so those questions are just going to get fewer responses because of this. Add to that the fact that there really are only a handful of people here who can answer those questions well, and yeah, some of them may get missed sometimes. Sometimes I leave them because I feel that someone else can offer a better answer than I can, sometimes just because I don't have time to give the question the attention it deserves. But I try to remember to star them always (sometimes I forget though) so that either one of my contacts can get to them, or so that I can go back to it later when I do have time to answer. If you're not getting enough of a response, but you've got lots of stars, extend the question! Because chances are that someone will get to it, but they just haven't had time yet...or they haven't seen the question yet. Just takes a little patience sometimes:)

EDIT: No reason to be sorry, Moondie at all. That wasn't directed at anyone in particular really. I've seen questions lots of times that I thought were interesting and have starred only to come back later to find that they've disappeared, having been (I assume) removed by the asker. I can understand the frustration of the askers of those questions too when they're waiting for their questions to be answered and it doesn't seem like anyone is going to, though. Ha, the only time this is frustrating to me is when I'm trying to submit one of those really long answers only to find that the questioner has removed the question while I was typing my answer:-p
