  1. if something uses the scientific method then it is science!  sociologists have to go above and beyond "physical scientists" because social behavior is extremely complex and we have to invent measurements for issues along the way.

someone who believes sociology is useless obviously hasn't bothered to research and find out what sociologists do!

  2. Its like a diary of research dated back as far as 300 BC. of the relationships between human beings in their environment with other human beings in their enviornment-CULTURES.

Their behaviors, their thoughts, their ideas, their emotions.

  3. My experience of sociology is that it's not scientific. The nature of its subject (i.e. humans in groups) creates difficulty around controlling - and hence understanding - it. Much of the research I've read around it is very poorly written and with little substance suggesting that the author(s) either doesn't understand their own subject matter or is making it sound far more complicated and thus, give a semblance of being "scientific". I'm open to having new info re sociology that is contrary to this but haven't seen it yet. Feels very much like armchair philosophers talking in science jargon.
