Discuss why surrogacy is perhaps the most controversial of all reproductive technologies?

I believe it is controversial because many women can't fathom the idea of giving away a part of them they carried for 9 months, regardless if biologically related or not.  Additionally, it is a very emotional subject, regardless of ones opinion on the subject.  Emotional for the surrogate giving up the child and emotional for the childless couples who want a child so much they will trust another woman with such an intimate ordeal as surrogacy.  Just my opinion though....  Note:  We have an 8 month surro baby girl.
