Disease on maturing plums

for the past 2 years my plum tree has produced blossom and plenty of fruit, however, when the plums are nearing maturity and are nearly ready to pick the fruit shrivels up and goes black, all within 2 weeks

  1. I am sorry I just can't answer this question for laughing = I have an overactive imagination, laugh, laugh, tears, laugh   xxxxxx  What a terrible thing to happen to your plumbs my Lord.


  2. I will happy to examine your plums for you.  If they are as full and tender as rotters, then you have nothing to worry about old boy.

  3. Ah, you need to take greater care of your plums old chap.  Firstly you must protect them from nibbling birds.  Secondly they must be given plenty of sunlight.  Perhaps your prized fruit has not been adequately exposed?  Make sure you do not allow them to over-ripen.  The swelling fruit then become too heavy and sag.  A few nimble students employed in early summer should have your plums well and truly seen to before they reach the shrivelling stage.  Toodle pip.
