Disgraced Pakistani trio barred from PCB academy
Salman Butt, Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif accused of spot fixing, have now been barred by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) from using the fasciitis of the National Cricket Academy until their names have been cleared.
This move by the PCB comes after ICC’s warning to the PCB to fix things at home or ICC might have to take action to ban http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Cricket from International Fixtures. The ICC wants PCB’s efforts in rooting out corruption from Pakistani cricket and to make
sure that PCB fully makes its players aware of the consequences of indulging in any sort of illegal activities.
Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif have not been practicing after their return from England. However, Salman Butt last week resumed practice in the National Cricket Academy at the Qaddafi Stadium. After which the PCB sent letters to these players forbidding
them to use academy facilities until they are cleared of the allegations leveled against them.
The three players were part of the squad for the English Tour this summer, the tour that turned out to be perhaps the darkest summer for Pakistani cricket. The English series which was expected to be an on-field bonanza for cricket lovers turned out to be
a series played more off the field.
The newly appointed captain, Salman Butt, along with the young pace sensation Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif were allegedly involved in spot fixing after a sting operation was conducted by a British tabloid “News of the World”.
The trio was immediately stopped from taking part in the rest of the matches remaining in the series and was interrogated by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Scotland-c756 Yard. However, no formal charge was leveled and they were soon sent back to Pakistan. Since then no formal investigation
has been launched by the ICC nor PCB, however, the players still remain suspended.
Salman Butt looks upbeat and wants to clear his name as soon as possible, while Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif have refrained from giving any public statements regarding the fiasco in England.
The players have made a formal “appeal” to clear their names, the hearing of this appeal will be conducted by the ICC on the 30th and 31st of October.
