Can a CT tech intentionally (or unintentionally) harm your health by giving you overdose of radiation during the scan? (for whatever reason - assuming he/she just wants to)

  1. There's a lot of radiation in a CT, but if she'd tried to cook you, the pictures wouldn't have turned out. She has bosses, and it's a business. Probably she was just having a bad day and thought of you as the next scan instead of as a person.

  2. You are talking about individuals, not what most techincians or a normal one would do, so it is possible, though I hope she didn't do harm to you. But it is not impossible, and I would say if done it should be a crime. Unfortunately it's hard to catch or prove.

  3. I suppose a 'disgruntled CT tech' can cause harm to you, but so can a disgruntled post office employee or a dairy queen employee.  Most CT technologists have worked very hard to obtain their level of proficiency at their craft and have undergone extensive training with respect to how to minimize the technique without compromising image quality.  It's rather unusual for members of the allied health professions to become disgruntled and take it out on ill patients.

  4. While possible, it is extremely unlikely.  More likely, she was just having a bad day & had a hard time not letting it show.
