On my DISH DVR there is a USB 2.0 port on the back, what's it for? Could I copy my DVR events onto it and transfer them to my computer? What is it for?

  1. Some Dish DVRs allow you to display photos from a USB drive.

You certainly can't copy anything from the disc drive.

  2. On some of the DVRS you can hook up external hard drives via the USB.  We hooked our 722 up to a hard drive and have transferred some movies on to it.  We did have to call Dish Customer service to have them turn on the feature.  It was around $40 to have them do it.

When they have the free preview weekends on HBO and Cinemax we record on to the hard drives and watch it whenever we have the time.  It works good.
