i was wondering why do u need to have CallerID to get an HD receiver for DishNetwork? whats the point of it? and how much does the equipment cost? how much do u get charged for it per month? and if anyone has Dish HD with the top 250 programming how much the cost is monthly? do u need to make an 18 month commitment? or is that only if u want the 6 free months of HD?

=] thanks in advance=]

  1. You don't need "Caller ID" to make the newer Dish Network receivers work, you don't really even need the phone line hooked up.  However Dish wants the phone line hooked up so that the receiver can call in occasionally and tell them that it's OK, or it needs maintenance, that it received the latest program updates downloaded off satellite, and so you can purchase Pay Per View.  So, to "encourage" you to keep a phone line hooked up, they will charge you a "programming access fee" if the receiver fails to call in periodically.

The receiver will display caller id on your phone when someone calls, if your phone company supplies the data, but this is just an extra thing.
