  1. Since it was nothing but a verbal agreement, Dish Network can claim anything they want to. You can stop them from charging your credit card, but that won't stop them from trying to bill you for any remaining balance. Sometimes when you tell them that you were unhappy with their service they will try to make it better in any way possible. Get a Supervisor on the phone and shut down the account and get it written that the account is closed and that you won't owe them any money. Always get everything in writing!!

  2. First, most states require that a contract for a period longer than 1 year be in writing.

Second, have you tried just calling them and saying you want to cancel?  If they do take a cancel over the phone and then continue to charge you, this is a routine dispute that you can call your bank about and tell them it was canceled and take it off your bill.  BTW this is exactly why I use CREDIT cards.  A debit card transaction is much harder to fix.

  3. Hmm first of all verbal agreements are ignorant. There is nothing in writing and how can you have a contract with a company like that if there is no written contract?? Just tell them a wise tale: I am moving and cannot bring my service with me as it is not able to be done where I am moving to and I want to cancel the service. They may try to pull the oh we can come see ourselves if you want to see if you can get service with us?? They don't have to have proof if your moving. That's a privacy issue. Just keep telling them no and if they get stubborn just say what is it going to take to cancel the service?? That will then have to make them obligate your cancellation.

They may stick you with a cancellation fee as most do just because or if you are still in the verbal contract of how long you signed up for then yes they will charge a fee. Most companies charge a cancellation fee of $200.00 or some not any fee.

canceling a network will not go on your credit only if you do not pay then it does go on your credit report. I have had bad luck with dish network services in the same manner as you where I would get different monthly bill amounts higher than the previous month without ordering any movies etc. I canceled on them but didn't get charged for canceling.

  4. Well if you're using your credit card then it will be charged and likewise reported to the credit bureau. It's not different than when you go shopping and use your card...you just have to pay your bill. If you admit to having a contract then you don't have a lot to go on. Why are you getting different amounts charged and why on earth do you have a verbal agreement with a company. I say get it in writing.
