  1. Did this just start or has it always had some water left?  A little covering the drain is probably ok.  If your d/w drain line is laying down instead of being secured in an upright position could cause some water to flow back to the d/w drain.

  2. You should not have any water in your dishwasher when the cleaning cycle is complete.

The problem is with the pump and it is not a cheap fix. I recently spent $300 to have the pump in mine replaced in a 18 month old machine.

The repair man said that 90% of the pump problems he sees if from not rinsing the larger pieces of food off of the dishes, pots, etc before putting them into the washer. He told me not to believe it when manufacturers say their machines grind up the bits of food. They do grid the food, but not fine enough to protect the pump.

  3. Well yes they use water to clean the dishes. There might be some condensation in there when you go to remove the dishes but that's it. Maybe your dishwasher isn't draining properly.

  4. You are so lucky to have one. Probably it has to have that water in there. I mean, duh! How else will it wash all of the dishes in there?
