  1. Call the insurance company and ask about the check. As far as your father, it's a d**n shame that people are the way they are nowadays. People are downright wicked and ugly in these days in tme. My Aunt had her own daughter steal over $1000 in birthday money from her once, so yeah it's possible.

  2. um, why haven't you called your insurance company? If you are paying the premium on your insurance, they should be talking to you even if you are under your father's policy.

If this is actually _his_ car [titled in his name], and he's paying the payments [if any] and paying the insurance premium, and probably paying for gas as well, you might wan to tread lightly on the old man.

  3. There are 2 options the insurance company will do. 1 is tell you to bring it to one of their designated shops and the insurance company pays them directly. 2 would be where they have an adjuster look at the damage and offer you a certain amount of money to go get it fixed on your own. If you went with option 1 - they normally will tell you within a few days after you filed a claim where to take it - not 6 months down the road.

It seems as though to me that they sent a check, and being the insurance is in your fathers name he cashed it.  Call your insurance company, and have your insurance card handy and ask the agent.

  4. Call your insurance company and they can tell you where the check is or if it has been cashed.
