Dishwasher Puddle Inside?

Hi. dishwasher ends up with puddle inside of water....leaks out as well....

wondering what to do.. and also, is this connected to the fact that recently the garbage disposal has stopped working... what should i do?

  1. The two appliances are likely related.  Your dishwasher discharges into the garbage disposal, and if the disposal is stopped up, the dishwasher will likely not be able to discharge.  

    So why is the disposal not working?    It may be jambed or stopped up.  If it is an In-Sink-Erator, take the Allen wrench that goes in the bottom and turn it to clear it. If no wrench, stick a broom handle into the throat of the disposal and turn the blades to clear any jamb.  Then push the (red) electrical re-set button, turn on the water, turn on the disposer, and if working, check to see if the dishwasher will discharge. (Look into the throat of the disposer and watch how the water flows.)  Sometimes food particles from the diswasher collect or become lodged in the discharge hose, so If flow is slow or non existent, check and clear the dishwasher discharge hose.
