Dishwasher isn't working, any advice?

My dishwasher is broken. The dial will go through the cycle and there is an electrical hum, but nothing happens. There is also a bit of water in the bottom that will not drain.

Anyone have any ideas on any troubleshooting I can do for it?

your timer is worn out it will need to be replaced or get a new washer.you might hit with the flat of your hand against the dial ,that might get you through a load or 2 but that timer has had it..........tom

Make sure you drain isn't plugged... other than that I would say your pump is not working...$$$$

This could be one or more of several problems:

Bad timer

Bad valves

Water line kinked or valve closed

etc.
