Question:

Dishwasher leaving dishes dirtier than when they went in?

My dishes are coming out with what looks like sand all over them - floating on top of my glasses, and stuck to everything (it's sticky). Had repairman out, fixed the problem, then got worse throughought the week.

My house is connected to town water, and my tap water looks clear. Any ideas?

  1. what temperature is your water heater set to ? I have been in this industry for quite awhile and have seen maintenance techs replace dishwashers that were perfect, if the water isnt hot enough, dishes dont get clean, and food waste will be left behind. Make sure your water heater is set to at least 140

  2. The dishwasher is not the problem. Try installing a sludge filter to screen the water supply. Be sure to use the water softener to remove water spots from your glasses.

  3. Probably some kind of deposit inside the pump, I get some from time to time but yours sounds extreme.

I'd try pouring a container of CLR into the machine......

Just for fun, run it through a cycle, and just as it's pumping out, but before it stops pumping, dump in a container of CLR.

Most will get pumped out, but what remains will be a strong mixture......let it sit for awhile....overnight?????

    Then run another cycle.....

That should loosen the crud, and the next cycle should flush it away.

Worth a try before replacing the unit.

    Good luck.

  4. ok first check under the sink where the dw drain is attached make sure that the drain hose is elevated in the cabinet so it is higher than the bottom of tne sink if thats ok run the dw 2times with nothing inside it no dishes no soap when that is done run it one more time but this time stop it after the main wash fill open the door and pour in 1/2 quart of vinegar close the door and let the dw run thru the rest of the cycle if you have a soap build up this will clear it

  5. Look into getting a new dishwasher soon.
