Question:

Dishwasher question?

I moved into this house 4 months ago and ever since the dishwasher runs loud, but about 2 weeks ago it smelled like something was burning. I checked the heating element, but there was nothing on it. I turned off the heat dry and haven't smelled anything. Now I'm noticing that water lays on the bottom every so often even after the cycle is finished. So, with it running loud, burning smell and water laying on the bottom, do you think it may be the motor? It's only 3 years old. Thanks!

  1. There might be something jammed in the pump, pull it apart and look. Don't forget to unplug first

  2. If you don't smell anything with the heat dry turned off the smell probably has nothing to do with the motor.  A small amount of water left in the bottom is ok, but if there is quite a bit there is a problem, probably with the pump as stated earlier.  To check for noise issues, and not draining correctly, see http://www.repairclinic.com/0088_9_1.asp
