Dishwasher running long on short cycle

Question

I have a rental condo and the tenant complained last month that the dishwasher didn't get her "silverware clean". Went over and there was hardened soap in the dispenser and bottom of dishwasher.

Cleaned that out, ran vinegar through the cycle...everything seemed to be good.

Now, she says that she puts it on "short cycle" and it's still running when she gets home from work and "not getting the dishes clean".

So:confused: how is this one fixed? Is it the timer, maybe?

Not much else it can be except the timer

the cycle extender sequencer that operates the timer motor is the prolem. if the d/w does not get water the thermostats will not trip to advance the timer. get model and make and go online!
