Disk not spinning starts and stops does not do...

Question

high i have just been given a jvc dvd player model number xv-tha9r with all the 5.1 surround sound all the surround sound works but the dvd doesnt spin does this need replacing and if so how and where can i get a replacement from it statrs to spin its like its not catching and spinning properly it starts to spin ie a quarter of a turn then stops is their anything i can do as if i throw it away i cant keep the surround sound because the lead from dvd player to sub with the amp in and the othr speakers run off is a multipin lead its like the pins on a mouse cable so i cant use it on anything else therfore do not want to throw out a surround sound works ok but can only use through jack leads from tell so not gettin proper surround sound please can somebody tell me what i can do as this is not my expert area many thanks in advance i know somebody knows what to do
