Disk unkown error message

I've got a LG RC299 DVD recorder combo. I bought some Night Rider dvd's, but does not play on the machine. Error message "disk unknown- please check disk" appear on tv screen. I've changed the region to unlocked, by pressing 0000000 times. Thanks alot!
