I'm a jury reformist who holds very strong personal belief against the current system...That is to say, I believe that professional jurors (such as a 4-year internship for new attorneys, etc.) or even magistrates - all well-versed in the law - should replace the present mechanism that uses citizens, who in general are poorly suited (IMHO) for such responsibilities. I also feel that most people brought before the court are there for a reason, but that neither I or other jurors are really qualified to dictate guilt or innocence. All this being the case, I know for a fact that I cannot be impartial on a jury...I'm not trying to shirk my responsibilities as a citizen, but these are just the facts. Would all of this be sufficient for a dismissal from jury service in most states? My suspicion is that the defense attorney would reject me as a juror, but I wanted to see if anyone else has ideas.
