Dismissed speeding ticket, would auto insurance rates still be high?

LA, Cali: Got a speeding ticket (50 in a 35) and its been dismissed (traffic school) all in May '08. I'm 20 and plan on getting my first car in a couple of months {new to the auto insurance thing}, but I was wondering would the auto insurance rates still be high even though this one-time ticket would already be dismissed when I eventually get insurance? And if so, will these rates be forever high or go down over the years? Granted I've only had my license about 2 1/2 yrs so, does it even matter that I have a great credit score and apply for a good student discount?

  1. Yes, that is correct.

A dismissed ticket is removed from your record.  Your insurance company will have no knowledge of it.

But if you ever plan to apply for position with the police force, CIA, FBI ... they'll have a record of it, dismissed or not.

  2. it shouldn't...a dismissed ticket is like getting no ticket at all

  3. There are lots of people having the same question like you and yours is just another one. Basically speaking about car insurance<!--Car insurance is the most widely purchased type of insurance coverage. Car insurance is designed to protect you, your family, and your automobile. Cheap car insurance is a popular avenue these days, but you should be sure that you're getting all of the coverage you need, as damage to your car or another-->person's car may cost you money out-of-pocket if you don't have sufficient coverage and your car insurance rate may go up.

  4. If you use dismissed as you would not guilty no it won't  See the officer only issues you a summons to appear in court.  It's the judge who passes judgment, and you are not guilty until the judge says you are.  It's not uncommon for someone to be found guilty of a traffic infraction, but not have it show on his/her MVR for months.  So check your record before renewal to give you a warning of things to come.

I am getting a sense that the attendance of traffic school is in lieu of a fine.  If that is the case you were found guilty but choose to take an alternate option to paying a fine.

So it seems to me, based on what I know, you were guilty of speeding and convicted.  Get ready to pay more.

  5. YOu are not the only one,I have met this type of  problem before.I have good experience here to solve the problem though.http://car-insurance.online-helpers.info...
