Disney Channel Auditions Requirements?

I know questions like these (especially the Disney Channel ones) have been asked like 1000 times through Yahoo! Answers.

But I was wondering, what really is needed to land you into the 'Success Zone' in the Disney Channel Auditions.

Since I am 16 and I have already done my Drama GCSE's, on which I am told to expect an A (or in some cases an A star). And am thinking of joining drama groups aswell....

In short, what does it really take to be accepted? (Im not planning to go to the nearest audition straight away, im just curious.)

  1. oh i can definitely answer this question! i just landed a starring role in a disney channel series... and let me tell you- it WAS NOT easy.

it depends which part you are going for and the type of person that they want for the role, but there are a couple of characteristics in the actors that disney is always looking for:

-the biggest is probably personality.  they are always eager to find unique kids who are a mixture of outgoing, friendly, and likeable

-of course, you need the looks.  thats pretty much a given for the acting business.

-another is how you conduct yourself in front of the camera. kids who act professionally and who act like they know what they are doing tend to do better in auditions.

-confidence, confidence, confidence.  they need to see that you dont s***w up when you see a camera and that your nerves dont take over

thats mostly what they look for in kids that audition. it worked for me, so good luck with your acting!

  2. Get an agent -- there the best source of information.

  3. so type your question in the search for questions box and we wont have to retype the answers.  you have to live in LA to start with.

  4. get an agent :)

  5. actinginfo.blogspot.com and talentagents.blogspot.com check those sites out because it will give you the answer to every question you hae but u have to search around the site to get your answer!!!! it wont just pop infront of you!

but you need to have a good resume(experience) be able to act and sell yourself. make them believe your the character!!!!!

  6. Disney channel appeals to a wide range of viewers. You have to have the smile that will look good towards Disney's younger viewers and the "smoldering" looks that will look good towards the older viewers (ex. Zac Efron or the rest of the HSM cast).

No you don't need an agent, so whoever tells you that, just look past their posts. Agents are helpful but they aren't needed. Disney Channel is good when it comes to looking for undiscovered talents. They willingly allow auditions to be posted around the net and the casting directors usually associated with Disney are willing to cast those who aren't that experienced.

Basically you need enough platform talent to work with. If you can read lines with emotion, you can be taught to fit into the character. If you can sing at least 8 bars you can be taught to sing one of their songs. If you have rhythm and coordination you can be taught a dance routine. It also helps if you are a quick learner.

Yet, experience will give you the upper hand. I'm not saying actual on camera experience like commercials or other shows but something that will give them an idea of what you are capable of and your commitment. Being in drama club is good, cheerleading(for dance) and even singing in your church choir works.

Also, make sure you are in it for the right reasons. Don't just do it because you want to "meet the stars" - though that would be a plus. :)

Have a warming persona, be respectful in castings and be prepared.

Thats basically all it takes to be in the 'Success Zone' in Disney Channel Auditions.
