Question:

Disney Cruise Line- Dining dress code?

We are going on a disney cruise in January. I am looking at the disney website and it tells you the recommended dress for the resturants.

At Triton's it recommends for men to wear a jacket- Do most people do this? Is a dress shirt good enough?

  1. It states on the website that it is "preferred" that men wear jackets, however, it is not required. In fact, when you dine there, I'm sure you'll find that many of the men will not be wearing jackets. Most of the people aboard the ship will be families with children, and with young children, it's just not convenient for the parents to get all dressed up, unless it's a romantic dinner for two. Don't worry, I'm sure a man could easily get away with wearing a pair of jeans and a polo or button-up shirt. When I went to Walt Disney World this summer I was worried because most restaurants had a similar dress code, but we were fine - my boyfriend just wearing shorts and a t-shirt and me wearing shorts and a tank top. I wouldn't worry about dressing up for Triton's, but dress up if you go to Palo's. The guy above says it's "like a five star restaurant," but it really isn't. It's pretty and well-themed, but Palo's is the nicest aboard the ship.

Hope I could help! Have fun!

  2. Most people do adhere to the dress code. I've gone on several cruises, none of the Disney, and although I wore suit and tie sometimes felt underdressed - especially on formal nights.

If they ask for a jacket, you can wear separates (ie slacks of a different color). Think "business casual". Formal nights a suit and tie or tuxedo are required, and they often take photographs (available for purchase later) so you'll want to look your best.

  3. I went on a cruise with Royal Caribbean a while back and I must say that pretty much everybody dressed smart-casual on most days except for the black tie night- where just about everybody wore suits/tuxedos (I wore white running shoes after a while because my shoes broke and no one seemed to care). In the buffets, I don't think a dress code is required, but in the case of the restaurants, if you have the clothes to wear that are required, you might as well wear them, but if it recommends, that means that a dress shirt should be suffice (I can't see them kicking a valued customer out of a restaurant for not following a "reccomended dress code" with that being said, I wouldn't spend extra buying a jacket because a dress shirt should be good enough. Might I also add to bring enough clothes for the duration of your cruise because if you don't you will be forced to pay for the laundry services (the cheapest price on our cruise was 4$ for washing a pair of socks!!!).

I sincerely hope that you enjoy your cruise because they truly are one of the best vacations that you can take. P.S. the food in the restaurants is amazing......(I gained 15 pounds after a two week cruise).

  4. What?  They have dress codes?  Girl, if they say jacket, I would make it any kind of jacket you want!  I mean, you're paying for the cruise so you ought to be comfortable.

  5. Triton's on the Disney ship is like a 5 star restraunt. I would at the very least recommend that your husband wear dress pants and a dress shirt. Disney along with every other cruise line has a formal night wear you are supposed to wear a Suit and Tie and/or a Tux (Yuck). I normaly wear a Suit and Tie and wife dresses all fancy. It is only one night. Take one nice thing to wear for the whole family and be done with it. You will be glad you did. If this is your first cruise you will enjoy it. I think I had more fun than my kids. LOL. You can email if you have more questions.

  6. Well, I would think so. It's not like they'll kick you out.
