We have 4 kids who LOVE the disney characters! We also love cruising! Although we've only been on Royal Caribbean and loved every minute of it. We were thinking though that we might try A disney cruise. My little girls LOVE the princesses. We wondered wether the princess characters are on the ships? How about pirates, peter pan, etc.? Do you think the kids would like disney cruising as much as Royal Caribbean?? We've already been to Disney world and they loved it but we've decided we like cruising better. But them both in 1 would be great too. Anyone whose been on it could you tell me a little about it? Thanks! Is the service about the same? Is it geared towards the kids? My little ones love disney so naturally we think they'd like it but input please. Anyone whose been on both tell me a little about it. Thanks agian!

  1. Hi!  Well, I work for DCL, but I have been on other ships as well.  I can only tell you that Disney does offer a magical vacation experience for everyone!  There are meet and greets with the characters set up all over the ship.  Stitch, Mickey, Snow White, etc...there's tons of them.  And there's a pirates night, where everyone dresses up.  The girls are walking around as princesses for formal night too.   If you and the kids enjoy DisneyWorld, then you will LOVE a Disney cruise.  I took my God-daughter on RCCL for her 1st cruise, then we did DCL, and it was much more magical for her.  The shows and entertainment are not just for kids.  Disney puts a great deal of thought into everything they do.

If you have any questions, you can email me directly.

I think, however, it is really worth the money to make those special memories.

    Have a magical cruise.

    Bon Voyage!

  2. As an adult you need to be aware that the Disney characters will make you crazy during the cruise, and there are NO CASINOS on the Disney ships

  3. yeah i think mickey mouse is on the ship. idk all i know is that the disney cruise is about the best cruise for kids! lots of activities for them there!! p.s. have fun!

  4. Disney is going to be much more expensive than RCL, if that matters.

You might try going to CruiseCritic.com.  Click on "Boards" and/or "Reviews" to get lots of info from past cruisers.  If you check out the review section, be sure and read passenger reviews.

  5. We took our 3 children on a Disney cruise last year and it really was the BEST vacation we have ever been on, and we have been on ALOT of vacations! First of all, yes- all the princesses are on board and there are oportunities to have your kids pictures taken with each of them! They post the schedule in their daily newsletter, along with the dozens of other activities going on! You really can't do everything, there is so much to do! The pool has a big water slide, and the deck has all sorts of really kid-friendly foods. All the staff go way above and beyond just being polite to you- they truely make your vacation special. Everywhere we went, the staff would call our children by their names and if they didn't know them, they would always say "good morning princesses" and make a HUGE deal about them, especially when our little ones were dressed up in their Disney princess costumes, which by the way- definitely take several if you can! They can wear them for photos, or just wear them to dinner each night! The kids clubs are out of this world too- my kids would actually cry when we tried to take them out! The shows are really professional, like something you would see on Broadway. Definitely don't miss any of them! And finally, the private island is so magical you feel like you are in a storybook or something! I could go on and on, but really- you will not be sorry and as a matter of fact, you will most likely want to go again! Go on Disneycruise.com and they will send you a free DVD that is very detailed and shows you exactly what a cruise with Disney is like!

  6. take them, it'll be a great experience.

  7. I have to preface my statements by stating that we are absolutely Disney freaks so I have a bias.

We've done one RCL cruise and several Disney cruises and although we loved RCL and had a very good time, there were too many Disney touches we missed to want to do another one.  I'd take a Disney cruise solely to go to Castaway Cay, their island.  Disney's shows are excellent and the service is top notch, much better than RCL's.

Where I think RCL beat Disney is with the food.  Disney's food is good but I think it is clear that they cater to families and as a result focus more on simpler dishes.  I found the quality and variety to be better on RCL.

There are princess characters on the ships and in the shows.  A highlight of a Disney Cruise is getting to meet Captain Jack Sparrow, especially on Castaway Cay with the real Flying Dutchman from the movies as a backdrop.

Disney cruises aren't for everyone.  Even though there are separate adult areas, there are children everywhere else.  Loads of them.  If you are looking for a vacation away from the kiddies a Disney Cruise is not it.

  8. We went on a Royal Caribbean cruise and liked it. Then we went on a Disney Cruise and all liked it so much more. We will never turn back to Royal Caribbean after the Disney Cruise. It  was so much better in every way. We have been on four cruises so far: One Caribbean and three Disney, and we're hopefully going on another Disney Cruise this summer.

But I would recommend going on the seven day cruise. Those three day ones aren't nearly as good. On the seven day one, you get to go to more ports that are better than the one you will go to on the three day cruise.

  9. Disney cruise is the best cruise I have ever been on.  Your kids will love it.  I am going on the 7 day land and Sea vacation for the second time this summer.  You can choose 3 or 4 days at a Disney hotel of your choice and then 3 or 4  days at sea.  The ship docks at Nassau in the Bahamas for a day, then at Castaway Cay (Disney's private island) for a day.  The approximate cost for your family for the 3 days on land and 4 at sea is $11,500.   This does not include airfare but does include ground transportation and vacation insurance.  The hotel I chose for your quote was the Animal Kingdom Lodge with the Savannah room overlooking the animals.

  10. They will have a blast. They have a whole section for kids only. ( Not literally but that's what they say. ).

    (Edit.)

I didn't read carefully enough, Disney Cruise has the kids section. Not sure about that Royal Caribbean.
