Question:

Disney Cruising for almost-18-year-olds?

I have heard many good things about the Disney cruises from this site and many others, but have never been on one. But the one I am planning to go on falls just short of my 18th birthday. I have read that there are pools and "relaxation sites" for those 18 years of age or older. I was wondering if this is a set-in-stone thing. I am mainly wanting to relax and take naps in the sun and would hate that the only places to relax would be those obnoxiously-loud teenage-only places. Can you experienced cruisers give me some inside information? Thanks!

  1. Never been on Disney, but have been on several other lines.  Never had any trouble finding quiet places to relax, either in the sun or in the shade, indoors or out.  You don't have to hang out at the "teen" places only.

You can get comments, tips, etc from experienced cruisers at CruiseCritic.com.  Click on "Boards" at the top of the page, then go to whatever topic interests you.  You might also want to click on "Cruise Styles" and find the info on "teen cruising", just to see what they have to say.

    Have a great time!

  2. Disney has something for everyone...So does every other cruiseline... Disney will get deeper into your wallet than most... If your taking small kids, maybe this would be a good choice, especially if you got money to spend, but I just got back from a Bahama cruise on a Carnival ship that had a lot of kids and they all behaved good and had a wonderful time...But with that said, Disney does more than most for young kids, and maybe it's worth it to you....I just saw a lot of kids having the time of there lives for less money...At  eighteen I think I would think that you would have fun with everything just the same as the adults. The ship is great for people watching, swimming in the pool, the hot tub, the buffet, and the shops...Just exploring both the ship as well as the shore excursions.

  3. Well I'm not exactly sure if you're planning on cruising alone, because to cruise on Disney you must be 18 years or older, and I know as a fact there are no exceptions. You must be 18 by the time that you book the cruise. Now if you are going with someone who is 18 years or older, than you can go on the cruise.  If you want me to give you any information on the cruiseline or anything related to it please send me a message, I'd be more than happy to help.
