My daughter is turning 3 on June 27, and her party will be held on the 28th. My husband and I are going with the Disney Princess theme since that's what she wants. I bought a few things like invites, games, goody bags. Being that our budget is only $200, I wanted to go with colors, and not a full on Disney everything. The games and goody bags and invites are actually Disney Princess, but I wanted to go with the theme's colors plates and napkins cause it's cheaper. As for the menu for adults were having chicken and veggie shish kaboks, hot dogs for kids, macaroni salad, fruit salad, rice salad, rolls. I just wanted to know if this sounds good so far, or If I left anything out. What about the colors? Does pink, yellow and light blue sound good? Also, what are some other little but important things that I could do? We were going to do a pink and brown cupcake themed party, but we had a hard time finding everything we needed for a 3 yr old's party. This will be a unisex party . Thanks

  1. That sounds fine; and you could even just make hot dogs for the adults too! ....  Dollar Tree has solid colored paper goods in bulk, so try there; and those colors are perfect:) ..... If you want to make a Princess cake yourself, you can make a cake mix (pound cake is best) in a pyrex mixing bowl (spray it well).  Then get a doll torso at a craft store (or Walmart) for about $1, and stick it in the small end of the baked cake (tipped out upside down on a platter).  Use storebought frosting, and the squirt-can kind (with tips) to decorate the skirt, and frost the torso's bodice.....  Or, you can just frost cupcakes pink, yellow & blue with sprinkles:)   ...... Jelly bellies in those colors in little cups with a doily would be an inexpensive party favor.....

  2. Try www.wilton.com

  3. You have more then enough for a 3 year old party.  One disney princess theme centerpiece and the same colors for tablecloth, plates etc. are more then enough.

  4. I think you have everything you need and the colors are perfect, maybe purple with the colors will also look good!

Also if you want to play disney games and songs!

    and ribbons and balloons too!

    Good Luck

  5. This sounds great and like you covered everything!  I don't blame you for doing some things in the color theme, it's so much easier that way and sometimes it looks prettier that way.

I love the ideas for colors, I would get some balloons in those colors though, that and streamers to make the party look more festive.  Kids love balloons and balloons are the easiest way to make the party festive.  You can get some in the colors you have and some streamers too.  Cluster some balloons in corners and add some streamers and I think you're set!

I honestly think you made the most important things go with the Princesses, that's what she's going to look for and the rest you just had done in the colors.  I think it's a great idea to do half in the colors and half with them on it.  The parts that she's going to look for the princesses on, you did that, the parts that she's not going to care so much about, they're in colors.  I think you did great!

I think the pink, yellow, and light blue describe them perfectly.  That's the colors I think of when I think of them.  That's the perfect combination for the princesses colors.

Being this is a princess party, take the chair that your daughter will be sitting in and decorate it like it's going to be her throne for the day.  Wrap streamers around the legs and arms, tie balloons around the back and to the arms, just make it look special, being she is the princess for the day, it's her throne.  You can decorate the chair and make it her special place for the day.  You can also go to the dollar store or party store and get her a little tiara to wear for the day as the little princess for the day.

You can also get the kids some bubbles so it's like their "wands" of bubbles for the afternoon and it adds to the party atmosphere.

I wouldn't do anything else.  I think what you're doing is great!  She is going to LOVE her party and love being the little princess for the day!  It's her special day and you've made her feel that way and that's what's going to mean so much to her, that you've made her feel that way.

I hope your daughter has a great party and a very Happy Birthday!  I know how worrisome and stressful it can be, take some deep breaths!  You're going to do great!

  6. It sounds fine.  I think people spend too much on their children's birthdays these days and sending the wrong message.

I have sound a few websites for you to help you.  The first website has  free Disney Princess Birthday Party Printables & Plans.   The second one, people have posted what they did for their child's princess parties, most of them 3yrs.

The last 2 are just sites to draw ideas off of.

I like one party I read briefly on the second website I have listed...cute invites...they made a thrown for the Princess...very cute on a budget.

She's 3...she'll love anything that makes her feel like a princess..I think we are trying to impress the other parents...kids at that age don't care.

Good luck and tell you daughter Happy Birthday!

  7. wow can i come?

  8. The menu and colors sound good.  You may want to cut out one of the salads and add something else that's more kid friendly such as chips, baby carrots and celery sticks, crackers, pretzels, or something else that's a finger food.

You can have a small cake for singing "Happy Birthday", but you can get (or make) cupcakes that are either not frosted, or just plain frosted and have the kids decorate them with "princess gems" (candies).

You can have the kids make crowns (unisex idea)

NOTE: I just wanted to add that I love everyone else's ideas - the websites to check, the dollar store, the throne.  And that I agree that she will love what you have done so far.  Enjoy these times because you will wish for such a simple party when you are planning her Sweet 16!  :)
