Question:

Disney World/Land Character Auditions

Hi,

I have found info on the auditioning process, but I'd like to hear from some people who have gone through it. I would just like to be a look-alike, not a performer, just character greeting, pictures, and the such. I've always been a huge fan of Disney and would love to work there. I'm going to be graduating this upcoming year, so I'll be free to go to college. I'm willing to go anywhere, so I want to also hear from everyone, DisneyLand or DisneyWorld? Which has a better character program, and which is better to work with?

I'm including a photo of me, if you think I could be accepted as a character within the program, please tell me. I am 18, so I am old enough to hold this job. I will be eighteen when I graduate High School also.

Thanks for your time and answers~!

  1. I haven't but I know people that have!

I grew up in Georgia and knew a lot of people that would go down to Florida to work Disney.

Disney takes its characters VERY seriously!

Their interviewing process is almost like getting a Top Secret Security Clearance for the military!  LOL

They do a serious background check.

And you need references, references, references.

They want you to have experience of some kind, whether theater, community services, especially with children!

    And you gotta LOVE Disney!

They are dead serious about their product!

Studying Disney history and everything Disney is a must!

But I will be honest with you.

They have such a HUGE turn out that you almost HAVE to live close to the parks.

A lot of kids that wish to go into acting will take a character job just to have Disney on their resume.

As for the differenaces of the parks... they are as bad as McDonalds! You can go to Disney in Japan and still see IDENTICAL processes. Things are done a CERTAIN way at EVERY park.

I hope you have actually gone to the Disney site on auditions. Everyone from characters to musicians go through the same process.

And I will tell you, being Mickey, Minnie, or Cinderella is a HUGE deal. Only the BEST of the BEST will get those spots.

    Character work is NOT easy.

    It's damned hard infact.

And can be miserably hot and exhausting.

Top physical condition is a must.

But I DO understand your dreams, and that is what Disney is in the business OF.... Dreams.

You are cute as a button and sound very serious and that is a GOOD thing.

I'd take ANY job they offered me if I was you.

    Good luck sweetie!
