My husband and I are going to Disneyworld, since we never had a honey moon. What are some good legit sites to get packages for a stay there at a good price?

  1. Really go to the Disney web site. Every travel agent I check into gave me the same price I could do by myself on the Disney site.

Stay in the park is my best advise. I have stayed both off and on Disney site. I will never stay off site again. Too much time wasted on getting back and forth. Too many headaches.

  2. The first time we went to Disneyworld we got a package, but since then I've found that it's less expensive to plan it yourself.  We saved a lot on future trips to DW that way.  Go to Disney.go.com and order the DVD.  Then choose an on site hotel according to your budget.  The on site hotels cost more, but it's worth it.  You won't need a car, and the atmosphere is magical.  If you are a teacher or a nurse you can stay at the Swan or Dolphin (on site, but not owned by Disney) for a big discount.  Disney also has military discounts.  Buy passes from Disney directly so that you know what you are getting.  Other places may not be reputable.  Don't get a dining plan unless you plan on eating at sit down restaurants a lot.  It's lots cheaper to do it yourself and eat at the fast food places. We found that we only wanted 2 meals a day.  Carry snacks and water.  Plan carefully.  Know exactly what you want to do at each park, or you'll be overwhelmed and do a lot less.  We had a hopper pass, but found it more convenient and a time saver to go to one park per day anyway.  Congratulations on the delayed honeymoon!  Have a wonderful time!!

  3. For any of the packages Walt Disney Travel is the main one you need to go through.  Now, there are vendors who also sell these packages.  The major ones include AAA, CostCo.  There are also some travel agencies who specialize in Disney packages.

Some things to know about how Disney charges for packages.  The longer you are there the less you pay per day, with the bigger discounts starting at about 3 days or longer.   They also have add-on's that you can get.  The one I would definatly recomend is the Park Hopper option.  This one allows you to go between the different parks on the same day.  If you do not get this option you are restricted to 1 park per day.  The other options you may find are really not needed.  The first is the WaterPark & More option. This gives you admission to the water parks and Disney Quest.  If you plan to go only once you may do better without this option, but if you want to go multiple times this may be a good option for you.  The most expensive option is the No-Expiration option.  With out this option your tickets expire 14 days from date of first use.  If you purchase this option any of your unused days never expire.  Generally this is an option you don't really need.

The ticket prices are the same price all year, the difference is in the hotel costs for the period of time you want to go.    Also, during some parts of the year they offer other incentives such as a free dining plan or park hopper option.

As to if you decide to purchase a Dining Plan.  The Dining plan includes 1 Table Service, 1 Counter Service and 1 Snack per day.  However, if you don't use the Table Service credits per day, or a majority of the counter service credits you can usually do better without the dining plan and go on your own.
