Disney World Secrets and Do Men in Early 20s Like It?

by  |  earlier

My husband and I are going to Disney World next week for our anniversary and I am trying to find out all the hidden secrets before I go, so I can check them all out. Nothing hidden mickey, just other secrets like waking tinkerbell up, talking trash cans, etc. Know any good ones? Or tips for making it more magical and romantic? Also, my husband (he's 23) is going for the first time and he doesn't think he will like it because he thinks it is just for kids...any men out there that enjoy disney? Do you think he will despite being skeptical? What can i do to make it more fun for him? Sorry...lots of questions in one!

  1. i've heard of many secrets thoughout the years but can never really remember them all.

i know if you are the first person to look into the dresser that contains "tinkerbell" actually just a light then you get to wake her up.

and push the talking trash can is in tomorrowland at the magic kingdom and i love him.

i've heard that there is a hidden paint brush on tom sweyer's island and if you are the first to find it you get a prize but i've never personally experienced it or was there when someone found it so i'm not sure how true that is.

i know that it is said a worker that was killed while building the pirates of the caribbean ride supposedly haunts the ride.

i saw a show on the travel channel that i thought was pretty cool.

i found it on youtube. its in 5 parts.

just some little secrets they can tell you about the parks.

and as far as your husband liking disney world HE WILL!

    its not just for kids.

my dad has been going a couple times a year since disney world opened in 1971. he was 28 at the time. he is now 65 and continues to go. if he didn't think it was fun he wouldn't continue to go.

and disney world has been open for 37 years and i'm only 22 years old so you know my dad wasn't going cuz it would be fun for me. obviously he started and kept going cuz he loved it.

  2. Your husband may very well leave you if you can't calm down.  Why don't you go on a vacation you would both enjoy? It sounds like he made some stupid promises to you, when he loved you, and now he'd rather go somewhere else with someone else.

  3. Lots of grown men LOVE Disney World!  He might find his inner child when he is there, and might become a Disney fanatic!

Just be patient, and let him make up his own mind!

You can read a really good guide about Walt Disney World at http://www.orlandofuntickets.com/Learn-A...

    Have fun!

  4. The MGM is more for his age.  Epcot is for older and Magic Kingdom is for young and young at heart. Do Downtown Disney at night.  It's got some KILLER night clubs. Stay at Magic Kingdom for the night parade.  It's alot better.  Be prepared it's always crowded. I like Laguna and Blizzard Beaches.

  5. I'm 24 and have been to Disney so many times and have never felt too old for it.  My favorite park is MGM studios, or Disney's Hollywood Studios it is called now.  If your husband likes to golf, he will love to golf in Disney, best courses! You find your childhood innocence in Disney so you are never too old for it.

  6. My husband & I went to WDW for our anniversary when we were 30 & we both loved it. It was one of our best vacations ever & we go now with our 2 kids several times a year. For our actual anniversary we had dinner at Fulton's Crab House & then watched Cirque de Soleil. It was a great night. I've heard Fulton's isn't as good as it used to be, but there are several good restaurants (Raglan Road comes to mind) at Downtown Disney. Cirque is something that should not be missed.

Be sure to mention that it is your anniversary when you make your dinner reservation. The staff will make sure you have a great time & you may get a free dessert. Stop by guest relations at the park to get an anniversary pin & all the cast members will wish you a happy anniversary when you see them. It's a small thing, but it makes the trip that much more special.

Disney is definitely not just for kids. Sometimes I think it's more for the adults. Try out some of the great restaurants at Epcot, go golfing, take a fireworks cruise, visit the Boardwalk, & be spontaneous. You'll both have a great time.

  7. My husband and I are going on our next WDW vacation in May '09.  It will be his 3rd time and my ... 17(?)th.

    Here are his favorites:

Magic Kingdom: Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean and the Haunted House.

MGM (Hollywood): Rock'n RollerCoaster, Tower of Terror and Lights, Motors, Action Stunt Show

Epcot: Soarin', Mission: Space, and Test Track

Animal Kingdom: we don't do, just a glorified zoo, that we never see animals in.  We went once so he could see it, was unimpressed and left.  He did enjoy Expedition Everest but it is a lot of walking for just one little ride.

You can sign him up for Richard Petty's Driving School... 1800bepetty.com  My hubby did that last time we went and he LOVED it.  He got to drive a race car 8 laps at 120 mph.

There is more than just the little "Disney" parks you can go to waterparks, or mini-golfing, or 18 hole golfing.  There is horseback riding, parasailing, canoeing and fishing (Ft. Wilderness Campground).  You can do behind the scenes tours like "Magic Behind our Steam Trains" or a "Dolphin Encounter."

Disney isn't for everyone, but you should get him to go at least once.  He may love it and you know you can go back, or he may hate it.  Hopefull it isn't the latter since you seem to enjoy it, but if it isn't his cup of tea, at least you know that isn't even up for consideration next time you plan a vacation.

The clubs at Downtown Disney are closing permanently sometime this year (I think this month) so you can't do that, but there is plenty of other stuff to keep you busy.

The first time my hubby went he was 23... it's 5 yrs later and we're planning our 3rd vacation since.

More ?'s feel free to e-mail
