Question:

Disney World Snack/Grocery list?

So we're going to WDW in a few weeks. We have the Dining Plan, so for the most part our food is covered. We get one snack, one counter service meal, and one table service a day. My husband and daughter can eat, though, so I figure snacks and things in the room and backpack might not be a bad idea. But between work, packing, and all those last minute details, my brain is fried. I need help on my list. So far, I've got juice boxes and granola bars.

Please let me know your experiences and recommendations on what we should pick up. We staying at ASMu, so no fridge, but I can keep small things cold with our cooler. And a store run is available, since we'll have a car.

  1. Instant Oatmeal,Pop Tarts and fruit for breakfast..they have toasters and hot water free in the cafeteria.I think breakfast is a good one cause once you get in the parks you just want to eat all the good food they have there. We have brought snacks with us before and we never eat them.

  2. The snacks and drinks at the park are soooo expensive! Make sure to freeze the juice boxes beforehand if you can so they will be moderately cold when at the park.

When we travel we like to put a big jar of nuts (cashews, pistachios, almonds, whatever), a bag of peanut butter filled pretzels, a bag of raisins or craisins, a bag of m&m's, then we mix it all up in a big bowl and divvy it up into smaller snack size bags.

    Have fun!!!!!

  3. NOTE of caution - make sure that you are very clear what WDW counts as food in the dining plan.  When I was there last year 9 of 10 complaints I heard were people purchasing water and have it count as a snack.  Make sure you are all on the same page or it will not be as good a deal as you think.

Remember GORP?  take a biggish ziplock bag and put in a scoop of what you like  - peanuts should be the biggest scoop, raisins, chex, m&M's or reeses pieces - mix it up and rebag in small snack bags.  Probably cheaper than the 100 cal packs (although I do like those choc chex ones)

Most hotels on the property have fridges so keeping things cold should not be a problem.

Water bottle - you can always refil at the park - you used to be able to get the lanyards that have a loop for a water bottle around your neck - those were quite handy.

I don't think you'll be able to bring in a back pack - so I always packed small snacks in the kids f***y packs)

    Have a magical day

  4. You don't need to take your own plastic cups.  Disney's foam cups in the rooms are individually sealed/wrapped.  One less thing to pack!

Here are some things that would keep just fine in your room and that we often have as snacks at Disney:

    bananas, apples, oranges, pears

    raisins

cheese sticks (fit easily in the cooler around other stuff)

chips and jar of salsa (jar will chill in cooler just fine)

any crackers (how about Ritz cheese, Ritz pb)

bread, peanut butter, honey or jelly (pick up packets at the food court

if you don't want it in the cooler)

    individual puddings, fruit cups, applesauce

Cracker Jacks (love these for in the parks)

rice cakes (we like caramel corn flavor)

  5. make sure to bring water bottles and bring your own plastic cups since usualy cups provided at motels/hotels are not very clean. buy a veggie tray or fruit tray and just put it all into a plastic container than you can put into your cooler. also you can just order a sandwhich from the nearest grocery store deli and just cut it up into pieces so if they want a little snack during the night you all have a sandwhich to munch on.  but thats only if you really think you guys are guna start to get hungry.

  6. Any of the 100 Calorie Packs are a great idea. I love the Dorito's and the Veggie Crisps, but you can also find things like Lil Bites Muffins and stuff. They're a single, serving, small, and easy to carry. And tasty. Really tasty.

Maybe those mini individual boxes of cereal would be good too; the come in 12 packs, I think? My family used to bring those on vacation all the time.

Other things: Goldfish pretzels, Rice Cakes (Quaker Oats makes popcorn flavored ones!), Sweedish Fish.

And if you're willing to keep them relatively cold, Uncrustables. You absolutley cannot go wrong with a PB&J sandwich.

  7. The dining plan is great! my family gets it every year.  Be sure to book your table service meal at a really nice restaurant (like the Whispering Canyon Cafe, Planet Hollywood, etc..) before your trip.  I suggest a breakfast snack such as poptarts or fruit, Then use your counter service for lunch at the park you will be in for the day.  Use your snack at the park, our favorites are the Mickey icecream treats. In between have lots of water and drinks cuz WDW gets hot!  Ask your husband and daughter what kind of snacks they would enjoy, include yourself. Then your off to dinner to one the the restaurants you made reservations for.

  8. personally i always bring a breakfast.

my sister, my 9 year old niece and i just bring some pop tarts to eat in the morning. we just eat them plain we don't heat them up in the toaster since there is no toaster in the room and it taste fine.

you can bring like cerial or what ever breakfast food you don't really have to prepare.

also buy the refillable mug from the hotel. it cost $12 per mug and you can refill it as many times as you want at the hotel.

its great. they have apple juice, orange juice, hot coco, coffee, lemonaid, tons of different kinds of soda.

we usually just bring juice boxes, water bottles, greanola bars, cheesey crackers for snacks.

    have fun!

  9. Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches and cheese and crackers.  Juicy juice pouches are better then the boxes. Bananas, oranges, and apples are great boosters and healthy.

  10. Well when i went to disney i thought the same thing SNACKS! so i packed chips, Granola bars, rice crispy squares stuff like that you can keep out of the fridge and they wont go bad! Also try pretzels they are good for on the go! hope i helped :)
